We had so much fun with these bubbles! We blew bubbles and observed their colors, shapes, and sizes. Then after our observations the students created their own colorful bubbles with oil pastels.

I start this with discussing the science of color with my students. We talk about reflected light and why certin things appear to be certain colors. Then I bring out the bubbles :)

We spend several minutes blowing bubbles and while it is super fun to blow bubbles in art class there is still work to be done ;) Each student recorded their bubble observations. The worksheet below is the one we used.

Once we discussed all the colors of bubbles each student got black contruction paper and oil pastels to create their own bubbles. I think not only did the students really enjoy this project but they also produced wonderful art!
